We are looking for to add a bread baker to our small team:
Tuesday - Saturday (40 hours / week): 5am-1pm / 4am-noon / Sometimes 7am-3pm
Starting Date: now
Starting wage: $16.00 + equitable portion of earned service fee (+/- $4.00/hr)
Laune Bread is a small neighborhood bakery in Longfellow, creating strong relationships with our customers and our farmers. Part of our work is to educate customers of our baking practices, ingredient sourcing and the meaningfulness of bread and farming. Our small team works hard to create an array of naturally leavened whole grain sourdough breads, pastries, sandwiches and more with local & seasonal ingredients, with minimal waste. Our goods are enjoyed at our shop, through a bakery subscription and delivered across the city to neighboring cafes and businesses.
We are a team of seven talented humans. The collective teamwork we do is done with care and intentionality. The ideal person for this position will understand and support these values. Good communication, listening and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback is important. Having a considerate awareness of others (customers/colleagues) and the ability to contribute to a pleasant and supportive work environment are integral for our bakery and team to exist and thrive.
At this time, we are looking for someone with prior experience working with breads. The ideal candidate has experience working with sourdough breads, whole grains, and local, seasonal ingredients.
ROLE
Mix, shape, bake a variety of naturally leavened breads, enriched doughs, cookies and pastries, fillings and other pastry staples
Prepare and execute recipes and formulas with acute detail, precision and care with respect to Laune Bread’s values/standards of quality and vision/approach to baking and service
Able to execute order fulfillment and packaging with accuracy and efficiency while also ensuring quality and consistency
Must demonstrate daily the ability to operate cleanly, efficiently and consistently in your work space, before, during and after.
Assist in dough fermentation management via recipes, help development and refine recipes
REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Able to stand long periods of time, minimum 8 hours (with breaks)
Work Saturdays

Proficient in basic baking skills/techniques, baker’s math and percentages
mixing and shaping bread
mixing croissant & brioche doughs
baking in a gas fired deck oven
Previous employment in a commercial bakery is required
Knowledge and enthusiasm for naturally leavened doughs
Personal grooming/hygiene up to health department standards
We operate during holiday seasons and expect our staff to work the days/weeks leading into Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We take two full weeklong, unpaid vacations, once in winter and once in summer. Our summer vacation is August 27-31.
